A computer network is basically a telecommunications network that is used so that computers can exchange data with each other. The most popular and largest computer network is the Internet. While connecting a computer network, there are a variety of accessories that are needed. From adapters to routers and switches, every part of the networking hardware has a specific role to play.
There are even more accessories that are used to make life simpler. For example, cable management accessories help to manage the scores of cables that are used to create computer networks. From connecting a network to managing the process, every network accessory that you can think of is available right here.
Network cables
Cables are necessary components of networking because they are used to build the connections between different devices. It is with a connection that we can enable the exchange of information and data from one point to another. Even though the wireless networking techniques are largely available, cables still have a major relevance in the world of networking. RJ-45 is the cable which is commonly used across all networking systems. Besides, there are many other cables which can be used for different purposes.
Network distributors
Serials ports are used to connect two different computers, but they fail to connect multiple computers to form a closed or open network. Therefore, a central device which acts as a network distributor is essential in order to form a network. That way, network traffic management becomes easier and manageable. Switches are the most basic type of network distributors whereas hubs and routers are of advanced type.
Hub
Hub is a large device with multiple ports, where different computers or networking devices can be connected. It can contain a minimum of four ports and a maximum of twelve ports. An average hub, however, would consist of about eight ports. These ports can be connected to computers in a LAN by using RJ-45 cables.
Router:
Router and hub have a similar functioning, but they operate in very different manners.. A router is connected to a computer in the same way as hub, which is by using LAN based network cables, but it has advanced protocols which enables it to operate the network in a secured way. A wireless router can be used to create a star based network to supply internet to wireless networking devices.
Internal network cards
A CPU can gain access to networking only if it is equipped with a network card. Many chipsets come with a built-in network card and they are sufficient for enabling basic networking. Advanced users prefer an additional network card with advanced features. These network cards can be installed on a computer by replacing the built-in cards or just by placing them as alternatives.
External network cards
External network cards are used to enable a CPU to gain access to networking via an USB port. They are sold by most network providers and are so portable that they can be carried around in a pocket. They look very similar to a flash drive and also contain a slot for memory storage. They are mainly designed to be used with laptops, in order to access internet on the go.
